This series is another debt to artist Thomas Seguros. As I mentioned in the Reflections Series, several years ago, I painted with Thomas in a workshop in upstate New York. Thomas has macular degeneration and his eyesight is slowly deteriorating. He painted a wonderful series of landscape paintings and titled the series "Landscapes Remembered" Inspired by this, I recently decided to paint this series of paintings, drawing on my imagination and mental images from various travels in the U.S. and throughout the world.
The result is a series of spontaneous paintings in a "loose and colorful" approach, exploring composition, color and form--all from memory and imagination. I intend to revisit the series periodically, continuing the exploration of "landscapes never seen".
